Marrow Cleansing Exercise - Dao Source

Legend has it that more than 1,500 years ago, Bodhidharma traveled from South India to China and eventually settled at Shaolin Temple on Mount Song. He observed that although the monks in the temple were diligent in chanting scriptures, they were generally physically weak and mentally scattered, making it difficult for them to endure long periods of spiritual practice.

Bodhidharma realized that : If a person's body is unstable and their blood and qi are not flowing smoothly, it is difficult to sustain spiritual practice through willpower alone.

Therefore, he combined meditation with physical cultivation, spending nine years in seclusion facing a wall to experience the flow of qi and blood in the meridians, ultimately mastering the "Marrow Cleansing Exercise" and the "Muscle/Tendon Changing Classic." The so-called "Marrow Cleansing" does not refer to literal cleansing, but rather to improving the overall condition by addressing the bone marrow, qi and blood, and the source of life.

Core of the Technique

What exactly does this set of exercises train?

Regulate Qi and Blood
Unblocking meridians
Nourishing the internal organs

External intervention: Modern people are accustomed to relying on external forces (medicine, massage, equipment) to try to solve problems from the outside.

Let the body restore its own order: Guide the flow of qi and blood through breathing, awareness, and slow movements, clear blockages, and awaken the body's self-healing power.

But the key point isn't the action, but rather—Internal operation
Inheritance

Master Yan Jun

Whether a set of exercises can be truly implemented depends on its inheritance.

Instructions for practicing stillness

Marrow Cleansing Qigong is divided into two categories: static exercises and dynamic exercises. Let's talk about static exercises first. Many people think that standing is simple, but only those who have actually practiced it know—Not easy.

Because it directly addresses the biggest health concern of modern people:

Chronic stress : The body continues to "tighten," putting a high strain on the nervous system.

Relax : Complete relaxation from bones to muscles

Breathing became deeper : Focus your Qi in your Dantian and awaken your body's functions.

Calm down : Mind and spirit in harmony, returning to inner peace

Dynamic Cultivation

Dynamic exercises are not vigorous physical movements, but rather exercises based on stillness.

Drive and Meridians

Unblocking body channels

Activate Qi and Blood

Awaken your inner energy

"Where there is free flow, there is no pain; where there is pain, there is no free flow."

Soreness, distension, and numbness are all signals from the body indicating "blockage." Dynamic exercises are not about stretching; the focus is on "movement." When qi and blood flow naturally, the body's coordination and balance will naturally return.

Prostate problems

A difficult issue for middle-aged and elderly men to talk about.

The Most Typical Symptom is Frequent Urination at Night :
Getting up 2-3 times or more every night, frequently interrupting sleep, not only affects rest but may also lead to lethargy and decreased immunity.

Don't easily attribute it to "normal aging :
Many people consider getting older "normal" and ignore it. But in fact, this is often a health signal from the body that can be addressed.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Perspective:

Three Core Related Factors

Actively adjust and improve your life
No need to suffer in silence! By regulating the body's Qi and blood and improving the functions of the internal organs, there is a great deal of room for improvement and relief for prostate-related issues such as frequent urination at night.

The "Three Highs" Problem

The most common health problems in modern life :

Ultimately, these three symptoms all point to an imbalance in the body's two core systems: cycle, metabolism

Many people rely on medication to control their indicators, but the symptoms often recur once they stop taking the medication.

Because the body's fundamental nature has never changed.

Energy and function

A very common, yet rarely explored, physical problem.

Decreased energy

Symptoms include: poor physical strength, slow recovery after exercise, feeling unexplained fatigue in daily life, anddifficulty concentrating for extended periods.

Decline in Overall Regulatory Function

Traditional Chinese medicine refers to this as "kidney qi deficiency." This is not a malfunction of a single organ, but rather a weakening of the coordinated regulatory capacity of the body's metabolic, endocrine, and other systems.

Therefore, we must improve the overall situation, rather than stimulating only one aspect.

Real Stories and Real Transformations

Whether a set of exercises can be truly implemented depends on its inheritance and effectiveness.

Brother Liang Yuanzong, at the age of 92, followed his master to practice. When he first started practicing, he suffered from loss of control over urination and had many physical problems. He even thought about giving up, but he persevered and now all his problems have been resolved, and even his sexual ability has returned.

My master didn't give up on me.

At the 2025 Singapore Marrow Cleansing Gong Fellowship Annual Meeting Dinner, he said excitedly, "It is because Master did not give up on me that I am who I am today."
